10 Entertainment Ideas to take you step by step through your Wedding Day.

March 31, 2009

1)Pre Ceremony Church Entertainment – Why not be greeted by a piper as you and your guests arrive to the church. Pipers  music will certainly give all your guests a lift at the start of the day.

2)Ceremony Music – The number of performer’s during a Church Ceremony can range from 1 to 20 depending on the size of the venue and budget. A soloist or duo can perform with a Harpist, Guitarist, Organ or accompanied by a String Quartet. Alternatively, a Gospel Choir will certainly give the edge to your ceremony and is becoming increasingly popular with Modern Brides and Grooms.

3)/Wedding Reception Entertaiment Music – There are a few seasonal factors to consider in deciding on your Wedding reception music

a)     For Wedding Reception music for a Summer Wedding one should consider the use  of a Latin band giving the reception that Summer or Mediterranean vibe.

b)    For a Winter wedding, a  Jazz or Swing band is always a great option as the music is steeped in the era of the Rat pack.

c)     Garden Wedding Why not look at booking  outdoor Reception Entertainment– As the guests enter the hotel a great wedding idea would be to include some very unusual Wedding Entertainment such as Fire Eaters, Jugglers, Stilt Walkers or even a small Circus Crew.

4)The Meal  - A novel and unusual wedding idea for during the meal could include background music in ther form of  Spanish Guitarists, Harpist, Piano Player See if you can strike a deal with a Classical Quartet to play for the Chruch Ceremony and  during the meal.

As the meal finishes up the perfect way end to any Wedding Event is with  a band ,DJ and  light entertainment. So here are a couple of other suggestions for unusual entertainment ideas that might work for you.

5)Straight after the meal an increasingly popular form of entertainment as seen at many of the footballers Weddings, are the Opera Singing Waiters, they are a great addition to any day and will guarantee that your special day will be the “talk of the town” long after the day itself is over.

6)Before the band come on why not liven things up a short high-energy performance between 10 – 30 minutes long featuring dancers, dance lessons or interactive dancers. With every style of dancing such as swing, Latin, Can Can, Irish or Scottish possible….. Consider your guests here and see what type would be most fitting, you might also have a chance to keep the mother of the Bride happy!  If dancing is not possible at this point what about some Magicians or Comedians.

7)The most important factor to be given maximum consideration too is the Band. The band can often make or break a wedding and therefore it is very important to use a reputable booking agency. They will deal with any problems and be at the end of a phone line to answer any questions that you may have.

8)A good DJ will cover all music tastes. A good entertainment booking company will provide you with advice on what works best ensuring a full dance floor and great night. Its is worth considering booking the Band and DJ through the same agency as they will have worked together before and therefore avoiding songs being duped, also, it will be cost effective as  booking two acts through the one agency you will often be  able to strike a deal.

9)Karaoke – Some couples just don’t want the day to end! Often after the DJ leaves and the guests head off to the residence bar a singalong often ensues…. Why not sing along to a Karaoke machine, a fun and entertaining way to end off that special day.

10) The day after the Wedding many Brides and Grooms often hold a party for close Family and Friends. Why not have a simple guitar duo to enhance the BBQ or party.

1)    Get yourself heard!  - Try and find as many platforms as possible to promote your music, be it online or by getting involved with college based CD’s. Don’t be too precious,  it’s about getting your music out there to a point that you can build up enough support to go after that elusive deal.

2)    Competitions – It is always a good idea to see if you can create hype around the band. By entering competitons you may be able to fund your next project or to pay for studio time.

3)    Songs, Songs, Songs – Very simply the bottom line is most A n R people will take 20 to 30 seconds and if your lucky 60 seconds to listen to a track and decide if it is a hit or not, it’s all in the song , the lyrics, the melody, some of the simplest songs ever written were completed in just 4 minutes

4)    Find a good manager –  Ask whoever writes for the local magazine or music organisation and see if you can get a recommendation from someone who has been in the Industry for years.

5)    Find a good Agent – Look for a passionate and  dedicated booking agency with a proven track record and good contacts and ultimately with your best interests at the forefront.

6)    Start with the Colleges – Build from the Grass roots up, they will be your first fans and will spread your music virally. College’s are a great place to start performing and perfecting your craft. They also have a large number of events over the year.

7)    Social Networking – Everyone is using Social networking sites these days and you need to be involved in Bebo, Facebook, My Space, Twitter to name a few. You can post your songs online, let your fans follow what you are up to, post photo’s and spread your Music. Get them talking!

8)    Support a good cause – Giving your services for free at charity events will increase your profile and get your name out there, it costs you nothing. They do the PR, you just turn up!

9)    Be Passionate and divide the different tasks among the band members – assign a task to each band member  then come together as a unit. Be smart!

10) Build links with Artists and Venues – Strike a deal with a band from another County or Country and agree to host each other so that you will be fresh in someone else’s eyes.
